Perfect Fit Harness

The Perfect Fit dog harness is a walking harness of unique modular design, allowing us to fit almost any shape and size of dog.

PLEASE NOTE: ALL CHOICES MUST BE WITHIN THE SIZE GROUP:  a 40cm top must be matched to a 40cm front and 40cm girth.  Each size has a different sized fastener that will only fit items of that size, so a 40cm top will not fit into a 20cm front.

The Perfect Fit dog harness is a walking harness of unique modular design, allowing us to fit almost any shape and size of dog.

For miniature and small dogs, the 15mm Perfect Fit Harness. For medium to large dogs the 20mm Perfect Fit Harness. For large, extra large or very strong dogs, the 40mm Perfect Fit Harness.

Your dog’s girth measurement, breed, and age should be all you need to correctly size your dog.

The Perfect Fit Harness is our evolutionary harness, which comes 2-3 separate pieces in 4 different size ranges (Tiny, 15mm, 20mm and 40mm) and 13 different colour options. Within each size range there are between 5 and 11 different sized pieces, enabling us to get a snug custom fit for almost any size/shape of dog (cats, rabbits, pigs too!) They’re great for uniquely shaped dogs like sight hounds, Dachshunds, Basset Hounds, Bull Dogs, tiny breeds and giant breeds. With up to 5 points of adjustment we can alter the harness accordingly to each dog, ideal for growing puppies as the harness can grow with the puppy with the option of buying individual pieces when necessary.

It has a D-ring which sits on the dogs back and a D-ring which sits on the front of the dogs’ chest, which means you can use the 2 points of contact with a double ended lead for more control over strong dogs. Our D-rings are made of stainless steel to prevent rusting and the harness is fully machine washable, do not tumble dry.

The Perfect Fit is designed not to go on over the head, we clip the harness around the dog rather than having to manoeuvre the dog into the harness, much less invasive. Furthermore, if a harness goes on over the dog’s head then there’s a chance they could back out of it.

The Perfect Fit Harness sits on the skeleton, avoiding pressure points, soft tissues and the throat/neck area, giving the dog full range of movement to run, swim and jump. Covered in thick padded fleece the Perfect Fit offers the utmost comfort for the dog and also helps the harness to adhere to the dog’s coat, preventing chaffing and slipping. Due to its comfort we have found that it often has a calming/re-balancing effect on dogs. This is a more complex harness to fit than most but by far the pioneer of harness design.

The Fitting Process

Once you have picked your appropriate size range and 3 pieces, with the help of our breed chart/Perfect Fit Sizing App you can now try it on (your dog!) *Please note, you cannot interchange pieces from different size ranges. Before putting the Perfect Fit Harness on your dog it should be connected by 1 clip at the front only, as shown in the diagram. Put the top piece on the dogs back and clip the Y shaped front piece around the throat area like you’re putting on a collar. The rest of the harness goes between the dog’s front legs and then clips up either side of the chest behind the front legs.

Using the box above we are going to first establish what size range the dog will go into and what girth piece he or she will need to wear. From there we will find a 3-piece size combination for the dog by using our extensive breed chart.

  • Measure the dog’s girth snugly around his chest just behind his front legs.
  • Use the table above to determine, firstly which size range the dog fits into and secondly which girth size they require.
  • If the dog can go into 2 different sized girths, then pick the bigger option as this gives more fleece coverage. If the dog can go into 2 different size ranges, i.e. either
a 20mm or a 40mm then you need to establish how strong the dog is and remember that a thicker harness will spread the weight more evenly through the body.
  • Once we’ve established the size range and girth size we can then find the breed of dog on the list below. A large Border Terrier, for example, shows a ’20-s-s-m’ This
combination refers to the top piece, front piece and then girth piece in this order. If the measurement we took suggests that the dog needs a small girth then we can
substitute the medium girth for the small one.
  • Try the harness on the dog and adjust accordingly by tweaking the 5 areas of adjustment and then by trying on alternate pieces if necessary. Be sure to adjust the harness
    equally both sides.
  • The Perfect Fit Harness should sit snugly on the body, you should be able to get 2 flat fingers comfortably between the harness and the dogs body. From a side on view, the
girth strap should be as vertical as possible, avoiding pinching the arm pits. The dog must have full range of leg movement and the neck area should be free from material.
  • Remember, if the front piece is too baggy, not only can you replace this for a smaller one but you can also try a smaller top piece, which will bring the baggy front into
the dogs’ breast plate more snugly.

All top pieces come in a choice of colours. All bases pieces, fronts and girth come in black. Tiny size available on special order
